Osborne first took this title back in 2008 when he defeated practice partner and good friend Jamie Caven. From the start of the day all the groups looked tough and any player wishing to progress would have to have his A game on full show.Once again the organiser’s were more than happy with the day and look forward to the competition continuing and prospering in years to follow.

UK Open defeats for County Stars

All the Warwickshire Contingent bowed out in the early stages of the UK Open with Matt Edgar the only one to achieve another day in the draw before being beaten narrowly by Reigning Champion Robert Thornton 9-7. The thursday was a major dissapointment for the others with Kevin Dowling losing out 5-1 to the 16 times World Champion Phil Taylor, Kevin never got to show the watching millions his prowess and was taken to task in typical style with Taylor smashing home a 102 average. Steve Hine was defeated by Colin Osbourne who then lost out to Edgar. Rob Singleton took two legs in his defeat to William O Connor. Nigel Heydon also failed to put on his best show and lost out to Andy Jenkins despite his opponent missing doubles aplenty.Scott Rand bowed out to an impressive John Henderson. Big Unlucky to all the lads who gave their all.

UK Open Warwickshire Lads all set.

The UK Open kicks off tonight at the Reebok Bolton and once again the County has its representatives ready to cause upsets and push the elite to make their mark on the Darts scene. Firstly Steve Hine takes on former Runner Up Colin Osbourne in a preliminary match. The winner will be taking on Mark Dudbridge in the first round. Prakash Jiwa will be facing the winner of Darren Johnson and Antonio Alcinas. Matt Gallett joins at the first round stage and is looking at two major scalps in James Wade a former Champion and also Robbie Green a major player within the BDO. Rob Singleton takes on Irelands William O Connor.  We then hit the second round with a Huge game for Kevin Dowling. Now having his new nickname of the Bounty Hunter Kevin will be taking on The Power Phil Taylor. A tough draw for anyone but a lifetimes dream come true in front of the TV Cameras where his game is more than capable of bringing the Worlds best ever Darter to ground. Matt Edgar also joins at this stage and will possibly face Steve Hine if he wins his battles prior. Finally Nigel Heydon takes on Andy Rocky Jenkins.

We wish all the players the very best of luck and I am sure all within the County will be glued to the screens tonight anticipating good progress from them all.
