Ashley Hykin proved to be the power player on the night as he triumphed in the first Mens Superleague Open of the season. 55 players took to the event with many on the night looking for that top prize in a fund nearing £400. Many of the players that would normally be seen in the final stages found themselves on the wrong end of the game as they bowed out at the first hurdle. Hykin playing steady all night reached the semi final stage where he would face Rob Hawker who was like Hykin playing very well. Down to the final leg Hykin finished off with a neat 86 finish on the Bull. The other semi final also went the full distance with Simon Power overcoming Mark Strong in a great tussle. Hykin came through in the final where Simon seemed to have used all his powers (No Pun Intended) in his semi final battle with a 3-0 win which won him his prize and also along with others raised some eyebrows with County Darts in mind, the future looks bright for the County.

Warwickshire once again suffered a first game defeat at the hands of the champions Yorkshire. Got off to a great start with a draw in the Ladies B with Edwina Holdsworth taking the match award after winning at number one, other winners were Lisa Whitmore and Donna Pinch. Mens B had chances but failed to capitalise with Steve Giddings, Peter Hughes and MOM Antony Allen with a 27.35. Sunday was also a 3 3 draw with good wins from Denise Keyte, Sue Gulliver and Lady of the match Trina Gulliver 24.86. Mens A also missed the odd chance to get the games, winners were Dickie Foster, Jamie Atkins, Mark Westgarth, Noel Grant and match award winner Jamie Hughes with a 29.91 win over fellow England International John Walton. Great to have Jamie back with the County along with Dean Stewart. All Match Stats can be found at www.wdo.org.uk.
