Hughes takes British Open Pairs

Jamie Hughes along with partner Sam Hewson of Lincolnshire took the British Open Pairs title being held at the Spa Centre Bridlington. Jamie and Sam have made their mark on many of the Pairs events being held on the circuit and form a very effective partnership. The pairs event with more than 150 entries is a tough event to take but they done it in style defeating Garry Thompson and Scott Waites of Yorkshire in the quarter finals, Jamie Wilson of Yorks and Gary Robson of Cheshire, for the final they overcame Steve Robertson who plys his trade in Scotland and Ryan Hogarth of Lancashire by the scoreline of 4-3.

County lose out in Yorkshire

The County came very close to hitting home a super win but lost out to a 20-16 scoreline. Weekend went off with a great start as Ladies B produced a stunning 5-1 over the Champions of the B division last term. Wendy Adams hitting a great 20.31 to take LOM also Caroline Pike firing in a top finish of 145. Mens B found doubles elusive and paid a heavy price suffering a poor 10-2 loss, Matt Edgar and MOM Tommy McGlone the only victors. Ladies A had a 3-3 draw Trina Gulliver with a 22.77 LOM and Kat Spanswick, Sue Gulliver who mirrored Caroline finish from the previous day to take her game 3-2. Mens A looked a great draw and all seemed set but a 6-2 lead evaporated into a 6-6 draw. Nigel Hitting home a brilliant 29+ ave for the MOM which he sealed with a majestic maximum 170 outshot. Other wins from Mark Westgarth, Dean Stewart, Noel Grant, Mark Strong and Rob Hawker.
