Warwickshire were represented by three people over the International weekend held in Bradford and hosted by the England Darts Organisation.
Neil Pritchard was there officiating for the weekend in his role as England Selector whilst Trina Gulliver and Jamie Hughes took on the player roles.
Trina was successful in her first match where England defeated Scotland 6-0 with a 3-2 win over Lorraine Hyde, however a 3-1 loss to Chris Savvery of Wales the next day with the England Ladies losing overall by 4 games to 2 which meant a Runners Up spot for them for this year.
Jamie Hughes took out a 4-3 win in the England defeat over Wales of 12-0 which has only ever been achieved once before in the 38 years of the British Internationals. Jamie also completed another win of 4-2 in his win over Scotland which added to the final scoreline of 10-2 to the England Men which secured this years title.
The Youth Girls and Boys of England also secured their titles in a near whitewash for the England Squads.
Donna Pinch and Antony Allen regained their title as Mixed Pairs Champions of Warwickshire, 18 pairings took part where a total payout of £300 was achieved. In the final they overcome Marian Conway and Noel Grant.
Four players qualified from the Warwickshire rounds of the Gold Cup Singles, they will go to the National Finals to be held on July 1st at the Magna Centre Sheffield. Jamie Hughes, Noel Grant, Kevin Dowling and Graham Hall and the County wish them the very best of luck.
The Bears suffered their second consecutive defeat when going down 20-16 to Glamorgan. A terrible start to the day saw the Ladies B lose the first five games, some were unlucky as the Opposition finished very well at first attempts. Melanie Hill emerged as the only winner. Mens B salvaged the day with a brilliant 9-3 victory. Simon Fairbrother smashed home a superb 30-30 average to gain the Match Award. 10-8 up overnight and a first game win for Natalie Gilbert which turned out to be the Ladies Award with all games after all losses which seemed to set the day up. Mens A started with the three wins but then the wheels started to fall off. only a two further two wins from Will Naylor and MOM Nigel Heydon. So a bad defeat hits us but still manage to remain in 5th position as we now get set to travel to Essex for our penultimate game of the season.
Nigel Heydon and Graham emerged as the two qualifiers for this years Winmau World Masters. They will both go through along with the the top two eligible players to the Midland Qualifiers with a date yet to be annouced. Dissapointing thing on the night was the low entry figure of 26 players. More Details to follow.
