Warwickshire completed their season hoping to maintain their third position but to no avail as they were taken down by Devon with a 20-16 scoreline. Ladies B battled to a 3-3 draw wins coming from Angela Jones, Wendy Adams and LOM Kerry Bambridge 19.03. Mens B struggled to get going and vital doubles were missed during several games. Winners were Charlie Symons, Matt Edgar, Pete Hughes, Ian Shaw and a brilliant show from MOM on last for the day Tommy Ryan who blasted in a 31.81 with finishes of 113,86,101 and 120 which has earned him the BDO Highest B average in the Premier Division and a £100. Sunday again we started by missing many doubles in the Ladies A and suffered badly from it only winners were Melanie Hill and LOM Trina Gulliver 21.47. Mens A third in their respective division were pegged back in a game that rarely got going, a 6-6 draw with winners being Nigel Heydon, Bobby Nixon, Simon Power, Antony Allen and Anthony West and MOM with a superb 32.96 Jamie Hughes. With this loss the County were put into fifth overall in the Premier Division. All things now are being set ready for the new season. We have lost Essex and Nottinghamshire but gained Hampshire and a tasty local derby with the West Midlands.
The County were today saddened to hear of the passing of Official Jim Gilfoyle. Jim had been suffering serious illness for some time. Jim was a member of the Committee of the County for near on 40 years taking up many positions within that time with roles of County Secretary and Mens Superleague Secretary. Always willing to put in great effort to ensure competitions were organised and ran with great efficiency. Jim later also became an active member of the Youth Organisation with the post as Chairman where he oversaw the nurturing of some of our Youth players that have progressed to Senior Level. We as a County send our deepest thoughts and sympathies to all the family.
