The Bears took a share of the spoils when taking part in the latest BICC fixture away on Cambridgeshire. Always a tough battle when the two Counties clash. The Ladies struggled with doubles and paid the price losing out 4-2. Wins from Donna Pinch and a LOM from Caroline Pike. Mens B found some form and took a great 8-4 win, with wins from Dickie Foster, James Hykin, Ashley Hykin, Karl Reynolds, Mark Carter, Mark Strong, Rob Combe and a MOM from Ian Shaw 27.38. Ladies A found the going tough with cambs Ladies performing well and finishing clinically. Sue Gulliver LOM with a 21.11. Mens A got going really well in a match containg 4 England Internationals with Nigel Heydon 30.83 MOM, followed by Kevin Dowling who had an eighth dart miss out on a superb 9 dart attempt. Winning the A match 7-5 gave the overall 18-18 and a position of 5th in the division. Next up is a home fixture versus Glamorgan in early March.
This afternoon the England Darts named Warwickshires Kevin Dowling as another member of the England Team for the forthcoming British Internationals. Kevin was called in after Yorkshires Garry Thompson had to withdraw from the squad. Kevin joins Nigel Heydon in a powerful team that will hope to continue where they left off last year when taking the Championship.
Once again well done Kevin well deserved.
Nigel Heydon has earned himself a place amongst the England Elite 12 for the forthcoming British Internationals to be held in Merthyr Tydfil in early April. Nigel was on the cusp of thi call up some years ago but a career in the PDC was taken around the same time. But recent and on-going form has got the eye of the Selectors and he has his reward for his never ending graft in the game.
All at Warwickshire wish Nigel all the very best.
The Bears embarked on their County Season again for their latest fixture against high flying Lancashire. Completing a stunning victory winning three of the sections and drawing the other. Ladies B had a great 5-1 win although four of the games went the full distance, Lady of the Match was Wendy Adams 20.29. Mens B started soundly winning the first one but then going down in the next 4, but a couple more more wins only for Lancs to go 6-3 in front. Final three games secured in our favour leaving us with a share of the spoils, Man of the Match Carl Green with a 29.47. Special mention to Simon Power who at 3-0 down managed to hang in there with a great comeback to seal the win, also Karl Reynolds who in his 2nd game for the County also cameback well after going 3-1 down to Ex England Player Les Fitton. Ladies B have suffered a lot of late but all came good on Sunday also echoing the Ladies B with a 5-1 win. Lady of the match Sue Gulliver with a 22.18. Mens A now had the pressure off and could allow their game to the fore and with an 8-4 win culminating in an overall 24-12 win. Next match sees the Bears take on Cambridgeshire away.
Mark McGeeney the former Coventry and Warwickshire ace played superbly today when taking on Glen Durrant in the Lakeside World Championships. Unlucky to eventually lose out in a thriller where both players shunned chances to win at crucial points in the game. It seemed at one point that Durrant had run away with it after going 6-4 up in sets but Mark dug deep and got the breaks required to take it to a final set. At two legs to one up Mark was staring at 36 for the title but a single 18 followed by a single 9 watched his chance go. Back came Durrant with a vital last dart Double One then with some power scoring secured the next two legs and the title and to retain his world Crown. Well done Glen and also his sponsors the SMC Ltd who also sponsor the County, also commiseratiions to Mark on your final loss but you looked solid up there and will undoubtedly be back.
Former Warwickshire Ace Trina Gulliver marched on to the Semi Finals after a two sets to nil victory over Aileen De Graaf. Trina had won through to the last Eight after defeating Swedens Vicky Pruim in the 1st Round in her pursuit of her 11th World Title.
Trina looks in fine form after her two victories with averges of 80 in the 1st round and a 77 in the 2nd round.
All at Warwickshire wish her the very best once again.
Unlucky to Trina as she lost out to a power show from Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova by a two sets to nil scoreline. Anna lost out to a brillaint Lisa Ashton in the final by three Sets to One.
County Stalwart Supporter Joyce Webster has sadly passed away after a lengthy illness.
Joyce was a great supporter of the County from the early years and had a brief spell playing for the County in the early 1980s. Always seen at many games both home and away was Joyce with her smile and her general wit. A lovely lady that will be sadly missed by all within Warwickshire Darts. God Bless Joyce RIP.

Jamie Hughes bowed out at the first hurdle in this years Lakeside World Championships. Jamie one of the favourites for the BDO Title lost out after a 5 set battle with German Qualifier Michael Unterbuchner.
Jamie had taken a superb first set which included finishes of 120 and 136 by 3 legs to 2 with both players averaging above 30 per dart. 2nd set the qualifier excelled winning 3-0 with a 100ave, Jamie was always there or there abouts but Michael closed the last set by 5 legs to 3 to make his progress to the 2nd round.
The County suffered a heavy loss after being in control leading up to the A matches on the Sunday. The Bears took a great Ladies B result with a 5-1 win with Melanie Jones taking the match award. Mens B followed suit with a 7-5 win with Tommy Ryan taking the Mens Award. Sunday can only be described as not in the script as they were soundly beaten, Ladies reversing the Saturday score with Natalie Gilbert continuing great form for the Ladies award. Mens took solace in two wins from Jamie Hughes and Dean Stewart. Back to the drawing board with a new year fixture versus Lancashre.
Warwickshire played host to Cheshire for their latest fixture in the BICC and came out losers by the odd point. Ladies B had a great start with a 4-2 win after being 2-0 down. Nina Bolt taking the LOM with a 19.03. Mens B suffered another loss with only James Hykin MOM 27.41 Ian McFarlane Carl Green and a vintage performance from Tommy McGlone. Matt Edgar ended his long reign of wins for the County when tasting defeat after a nip and tuck battle. Sunday saw the Ladies on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline with Sue Gulliver 22.59 taking the only win. Mens A went off to a flyer securing the first four wins, with a brilliant show from Kevin Dowling 32.84 MOM, other winners being Nigel Heydon, Dean Stewart, Steve Hine, Simon Power, Ian McFarlane, Prakash Jiwa and Mark Westgarth. We next face an away fixture at Lincolnshire.
