Warwickshire are pleased to announce a new deal for the next three year. A sponsorship deal has been agreed with The Sportsman Management Company. Mark Elkin spokesman of the company said “We at The Sportsman Management Company Ltd are very proud and privileged to be part of the Warwickshire Darts Organisation for the next three years, Warwickshire county are very close to our hearts so when we were asked to consider sponsorship we didn’t hesitate to say yes, as a company we are already involved in darts in a very big way as we are The Management Team for PDC players, Kim Huybrechts,Ronny Huybrechts and Former BDO World Champion Jelle Klaasen and we would like to share our success with the Warwickshire Darts Organisation, also on a personal note, I have many good friends on the committee already and I am close to a lot of the players, I also try to get to as many county games as possible to show my support and i always believed that from a young age that you should be so proud to represent your county, I am really looking forward to the next three years and i believe that the new players coming in are going to make us even more of a major force so here’s to a successful partnership and a very proud sponsor, c’mon you Bears ! Chairman Neil Pritchard along with the other Executives have stated that this is a great deal for the Organisation and will secure it financially well for the foreseeable future.

Champions Cup Revamped.

After long discussions at board level it has been decided that to try and revamp the British
Champions Cup and give every super league a fairer chance of winning the event it will be
played all on one day with a round robin. This will do away with any regional play-offs and
teams will only have to travel once and will get to play a number of games, also a draw will take place which will allow teams to have the opportunity of playing other super leagues instead of the old format which saw the same super leagues playing each other ever year.
The event will take place in the Magna Centre, Sheffield Road, Rotherham, S60 1DX on Sunday 11th August which was the date used for the Finals of the Champions Cup in the diary. This will also free up the date used for the regional heats (21st July).
If your players would like to make a weekend of it the British Classic and the finals of the British Masters will take place on Saturday 10th August 2013 at the same venue which should provide a great weekend of darts for everyone.

Rob Hawker made his return to the County with a super MOM show and a 28.50- Welcome Home Rob,. Ladies A had a few chances against a tough Devon Ladies side. Nigel wins Dennis Roberts Singles.

Nigel Heydon continued his rich vein of form when taking the Dennis Roberts Singles at the Bishopsgate. As is usual the standard was superb from the off.

Nigel defeated Mark Westgarth in the final with a huge 34.09 average whilst Mark had a 28.81. Winning legs came in Mark = 17. Nigel 12,10,13,17 and 20.

Losing Semi Finalists were Jamie Atkins and Adam Heath.

Well Done Nigel, a certain Mr Roberts would have loved to have witnessed that.

Nigel Heydon Re-writes Record Book

Nigel Heydon

Leamington’s Nigel Heydon re-wrote the record books with the Highest Recorded Single Dart Average since the League began.

Whilst playing Long Itchington in week Thirteen of the 2012-2013 season, Nigel achieved his average of 41.75 (125.25) per throw with legs in 11,11 and 14 darts.

Leg One: 140,140,140 and 81 in 2 darts.

Leg Two: 57,140,140,140 and 24 in 2 darts

Leg Three 140,180,81 and 100 in 2 darts.

Nigel says that he feels there maybe more to come but to maintain that sort of average would be tough but he has come close to a few 9 darters in Practice. He says a 9 darter in the Superleague would be fantastic.

Nigel Continues that his new stance taken up just lately has helped in some way with less pressure on his back, but his new Darts setup are working very well and obviously contributed to his achievement last night.

All at the County offer our congratulations to Nigel and hope to see more.

In the January edition of Darts World Nigel receives the Runner Up award for Player of the Month.
