Jamie Hughes won a tricky first round match over the experienced Martin Atkins of Yorkshire. Atkins who has had a resurgence of good form in the past year stood to the task in the game but vital doubles were missed. Hughes was also guilty of a few doubles missed but powered home in the final set with some power scoring.
