Warwickshire travelled down to Essex for their latest Premier Division fixture where it was hoped a repeat of last year’s result over the hosting County.
Ladies B raced into a 4-0 lead with a great show although the final two games were lost. Wins coming from Angela Jones, debutant Hannah Meek, returning Courtney Hine and our LOM Chloe McKivett 20.59.
The Mens B were on the wrong end of an 8-4 result with many games going the full distance. But they mostly went the wrong way for us. Wins coming from Mark Martin, Dave Hill, Adam Hancock and MOM from Nigel Heydon 27.57 in a superb match.
Ladies A also took their game 4-2 with wins from Natalie Gilbert, Sue Gulliver, Donna Pinch and a LOM from Tammy Montgomery. 23.12 scores level leading up to the much awaited Mens A match.
Jenson Walker a late call up for the A side looked to be on the wrong end of his game being 3-1 down but a missed double by his opponent saw Jenson step up and take the game 4-3 with a bull finish to wrap it up. After that it was a battle as the home side threw some brilliant darts led in the third game by Keegan Brown who defeated Noel Grant 4-0 with 15,14,13,12 dart legs and a huge 37.11 average. This gave them much momentum and only two more wins came from the Bears with Matty Washbrooke and MOM Jamie Atkins 28.05.
Every so often you have to sit there and admire what you are actually watching. The Essex squad done us a good number this weekend and were well worthy winners overall. 21 – 15.
County now look to next game where they are travelling again up to Cheshire.
