Warwickshire took a great victory in the valleys with Glamorgan this weekend which secured their highest ever position of Runners Up in the Premier Division. Since the BICC started in the very early 70s to the now renamed UKDA National League Warwickshire have had to contend with a best place of 3rd but this year has put the County in a super place.
All the Players, Officials can hold their heads high as they have all gave their effort to create this momentous occasion.
A 4 -2 win for the Ladies B was a great starter for the weekend having gone 4-0 up it looked like they could actually take the Ladies B title but they were thwarted in their final two games but still a Ladies B runners up spot is a great testament to the girls. Wins from Marian Conway, Wendy Adams, Nina Bolt and a LOM from Chloe McKivett.
Mens B had a tough battle but came away with a creditable draw. Wins coming from ,Mark Carter, Adam Hancock, Lee Miller, Martin Tonks, Nigel Heydon and a MOM from Scott Hope.
Ladies A also faced an uphill battle with a tough Ladies side but pulled out a 3-3 draw, winners being Natalie Gilbert, Caroline Pike and a superb LOM from Tammy Montgomery with a 28.75
Onto the Mens A and again a strong Glamorgan side would be a tough ask but a great 7-5 win with winners being Jamie Atkins, Tom Martin, Matty Washbrooke, Wayne Mynard, Prakash Jiwa, Noel Grant who now finishes top of the Premier Division Averages and again a super 32.38 MOM from Jamie Hughes in a seven leg thriller worthy of the entrance fee alone.
Warwickshire could not be any prouder than this moment.
Thanks to all Officials and Players in helping create hsitory.
