Outstanding victory for the Bears

The Bears travelled to their furthest destination Cornwall in the Premiership with many withdrawing from the weekend due to Covid, work and another Event abroad. This left the selectors with a headache right up until the match started on the Saturday. However the team got through it with an outstanding victory which started with a superb 5-1 win for the Ladies B. A tough battle that many of the players endured but eventually gaining that all important win. Wins from Denise Keyte, Melanie Jones, Caroline Pike and a first County win for Lucy Keyte and a LOM from Wendy Adams. The Mens B were evenly matched with their counterparts and that proved to be on the day with a 6-6 draw. More hard graft to gain this result with wins from Carl Green, Will Naylor, Matty Washbrooke, Mark Carter, Jack Wareing and a MOM from Karl Reynolds who found three maximums during his game, special mentions go to Debutants Mark Tomlinson and Jason Prince who despite losing their games put in some great effort and with a little bit of luck could have grabbed wins but again thank you Gents. Ladies A would be looking to push the scoreline further into the Bears favour and did so with a much needed 4-2 victory. Wins from Sue Gulliver, Donna Pinch, Chloe McKivett and a LOM from Tammy Montgomery overall score was now 15 – 9 to the Bears so another mammoth effort required from the Mens A which was eventually to be another 6-6 draw. Wins from Steve Hine, Noel Grant, Kevin Dowling, Jack Wareing on his A team debut, Jamie Atkins and a MOM from Gareth Braham 30-70 which was a delight to watch with his opponent having a higher 31-21. This match had six maximums during it and both sets of supporters loved watching the show. More special mentions to the three players promoted from the B side they all did their best and on other days would have fared better. Also Dave Honey who was promoted prior the fixture. Also to Dave Atkins who makes his guest appearances down in Cornwall. Thanks again chaps. Major decisions will now have to be discussed with Selection as we have another home tie against London in a few weeks time.
