Warwickshire took a very tight 19-17 win over Gwent in the latest round of BICC Fixtures. An away fixture win to add to the victory over Oxfordshire makes it two away wins but two Home losses. Ladies B needed to get back to basics and although taking a first game loss reeled off the next five to give the County a very sound start. Kat Spanswick recalled for this match produced a great game with a 21.02 ave and the Lady of the Match. Antony Allen started proceedings for the Mens B with a solid win and the Match Award 28.24. Further wins came from two of the debutants Will Naylor and Dane Vickers. Also Simon Power, Tommy McGlone, Steve Hine, Mark Strong and Luke Kennedy. A great overnight advantage which soon started to disintegrate with Ladies losing out 5-1 with Denise Keyte winning and Lady of the Match 15.05. Gwent Ladies all achieved a 20+ average which proved their worthy win. Nigel Heydon hit home in first game with a 30.00 in a 4-1 win, only for the wheels to start wobbling. But a middle order push brought us the win with Tommy Aldridge, Dean Stewart and Jamie Hughes hitting home, the latter of the two hitting superb 29 aves. With three games to go we were looking at 22 points with the bonus three but that was scuppered when all three suffered defeats. A win is a win though and now we find ourselves in fourth position looking at our next game at home vs Lancashire in the New Year.
