County crash to defeat

Warwickshire crashed to a strange defeat in their latest fixture in the BICC. Taking the first section 5-1 the weekend looked set for a good victory overall, Chloe McKivett proved to be LOM with a 20.88, other wins from Melanie Hill, Sue Gulliver, Angela Jones and Nina Bolt. The the wheels started to fall off with the first 5 men all defeated, it now required some mammoth effort to restore belief and the next six men did not dissapoint, Graham Hall with a 29.13 taking the MOM. Others winning were Mangal Singh, James Hykin, Carl Green, Ian McFarlane and Charlie Symons on his debut. 11-7 lead overnight was soon equalled with the Cambs Ladies hitting the Bears with a 5-1, Natalie Gilbert with a 24.00 only winner. Again same as the day before the first five losing out and the danger of points lost, Mark Carter managed a scrappy win after being 3-0 down, others that followed were Antony Allen, Nigel Heydon and a MOM from Noel Grant of 30.88 which was the highest ave within the Premier Divison so wins the monthly cash award. A 20-16 loss snatched from the jaws off victory. But hats off to the Cambridge squad who played brilliantly and deserved the overall win. Off next into the Valleys with a trip to Glamorgan.
